Denise Richards Biography

Denise Richards, Actress/Model

Date of Birth: February 17, 1971

Birthplace: Downers Grove, Illinois

Sign: Aquarius

Denise Lee Richards was born on Feb. 17, 1971 in Downers Grove, IL to Joni and Irv Richards. Even though Richards would eventually model, she was a tomboy as a child. Her first acting roles came as guest roles in TV shows and TV movies during the 1990s. Her first starring role came in 1997 with "Starship Troopers" and then 1998's "Wild Things." She starred in the 1999 James Bond film "The World Is Not Enough." She was highly criticized for her performance, with Entertainment Weekly ranking her as the worst Bond girl of all time in 2008.

In 2002, she married Charlie Sheen, who she had two children with. Meanwhile, Richards kept landing roles, making appearances on comedies like "Spin City," "Friends" and "Seinfeld." She even starred in the brief 2005 UPN series "Sex, Love & Secrets." Her image as a sex symbol was reinforced with her roles in "Valentine," "Undercover Brother" and "Scary Movie 3," and also when she posed nude for Playboy in 2004.

Sheen and Richards filed for divorce in 2005, reconciled and then filed for divorce again in 2006. The divorce got ugly when Richards filed for a restraining order against Sheen, claiming that the actor was paranoid and obsessive. She claimed he believed in 9/11 conspiracy theories, wanted to purchase gas masks, was fascinated by Nicole Simpson's death, and was addicted to gambling, pornography and prostitutes. Richards received her restraining order, though Sheen denied the allegations of what he called a "smear campaign."

Most recently, Richards starred in the 2008 comedy "Blonde and Blonder" alongside Pamela Anderson.
