Montag was one of Conrad's closest friends and they moved in together when Conrad moved from Laguna Beach to Los Angeles to attend the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising.

The Hills, a spinoff of Laguna Beach focused on the lives of Conrad and Montag as they attended school, worked, and partied in Los Angeles.

Heidi Montag and Lauren Conrad are no longer living together or speaking to one another.

A series of highly dramatic conflicts during their time as roommates were a featured part of The Hills and became tabloid fodder. Most of these conflicts were about Heidi's boyfriend, Spencer Pratt.
