Jesse McCartney was born on April 9, 1987 in Ardsely, New York to Scott and Ginger McCartney. From an early age, McCartney began performing in local musical theatre productions. At age 10, McCartney joined the national tour of The King and I. The next year, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue his singing and acting career.
Beginning in 1998, McCartney played Adam Chandler Jr. on the soap opera All My Children, a role for which he earned a Daytime Emmy Nomination. Ending his stint on the soap opera in 2001, McCartney starred in Summerland, a short lived TV series that aired on the WB. McCartney also appeared in the TV shows Hannah Montana, and The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, as well as in the movies Horton Hears A Who! And Alvin and the Chipmunks.
McCartney began his singing career around the same time his acting career was taking off. In 1999, McCartney joined the boy band Dream Street, which broke up in 2002. He swiftly began working on a solo career, and released his first album Beautiful Soul in 2004. The singer toured all over the world in support of his album.
McCartney's second album entitled Right Where You Want Me was released in 2006, but no tour was announced to support his sophomore effort. In 2008, McCartney released his third album entitled Departure. He will co-headline a tour with American Idol winner Jordin Sparks to promote Departure.
