John C. Reilly was born on May 24, 1965 in Chicago, Illinois, the fifth of six children.

After graduating from Brother Rice High School, Reilly enrolled at the Goodman School of Drama, at DePaul University.

Reilly's film debut came in the 1989 Brian De Palma film Casualties of War.

To date, Reilly has made over 50 films. His choices of diverse roles, in both comedic and dramatic films show his range as an actor.

Some of his most notable films are The Aviator, Chicago, Gangs of New York, Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby, and Walk Hard. Reilly was nominated for an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Chicago. The actor is currently working on the films Nine and Cirque du Freak.

Reilly has also proven his chops as a singer, performing two tracks on the 2006 compilation album, Rogue's Gallery: Pirate Ballads, Sea Songs, and Chanteys. The actor also went on the road as Dewy Cox, his character from Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story. Reilly entitled his U.S. tour, Cox Across America.

Reilly married Allison Dickey in 1992. The couple met on the set of Casualties of War. His most recently released movie Step Brothers, in which he stars opposite Will Ferrell, has made over 80 million dollars at the Box Office.
