Lauren Katherine Conrad was born February 1, 1986 in Laguna Beach, California to Kathy and Jim Conrad. She rose to stardom during her senior year when she appeared on the MTV reality show "Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County." The show documented the lives of teens in Orange County, California. After graduating, Conrad attended the Academy of Art University in San Francisco for a semester before transferring to a fashion school.

This is where Laguna Beach spin-off "The Hills" picks up, following Conrad's move to the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising and her pursuit of a career in fashion design. The show premiered on MTV in May 2006. Here Conrad, often called LC, landed a Teen Vogue internship. The show has also brought fame to Conrad's co-stars Heidi Montag, Spencer Pratt and Audrina Patridge. Patridge and Montag were Conrad's roommates (separately), and Pratt is Montag's boyfriend. The series, which has already run for three seasons, has been renewed and will return for its fourth. Conrad's role at Teen Vogue has dramatically increased the magazine's sales.

Conrad has been a spokesperson for Avon's "mark." line, which is geared towards young women. The star is also a spokesperson for social networking service College Tonight.
