Auction on Brittany Murphy's death house put on hold

February 1, 2011 Brittany Murphy

The auction for Brittany Murphy's Hollywood home has been put on hold at the bank's request. Her mother, Sharon, asked for extra time before the place is sold under the hammer because she wants to unload the house on her own.

The 8,000 sq. ft. Hollywood Hills home had been put on the market in March for $7.25 million. But a month later, Sharon decided to pull it off the market.

Earlier in January, it was learned that a little more than $4 million is still owed on the home. An auction was set Monday at a Pomono, CA courthouse to sell the property.

But Sharon asked for extra time to see if she can sell the house on her own terms instead. The new auction date is on February 14, according to TMZ.

Brittany died in the very same house in December 2009. The following May, her widower, Simon Monjack, was also found dead at the residence. They both died of pneumonia and anemia.
