David Beckham Scores First Galaxy Goal

April 5, 2008

Soccer superstar David Beckham spent the last year battling knee and ankle injuries but got off on the right foot Thursday when he scored his first major league soccer goal and assisted on a second score. The Los Angeles Galaxy scored a 2-0 victory over the San Jose Quakes at the Home Depot Center in Carson, California.

The soccer star, who has been in the headlines since moving to America, was thrilled with the win. According to People.com he said. "It's important that we won tonight and played a good performance as a team. We're very happy."

At the post-game press conference Beckham was so happy that he dished on everything from how he felt about the goal to moving his wife and three kids to America.

About life in the United States, the soccer star said, "I'm enjoying my time here. It's been a great experience."

He also said his sons and wife, Victoria Beckham, are enjoying the move. "They love living here. The boys are settled and that's the most important thing when moving to a different place - especially for us moving to another part of the world. They go back to see their grandparents and they saw them at spring break and now they're back and they couldn't be happier."
