Villain forever in their notebooks! James Marsden revealed that he's still on bearing the brunt for his role in Notebook who drove the wedge between Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling's romance.

Talking to Vulture, he said some avid fans of the movie has been giving him a tough since the movie released in 2004.

"Itís a very polarizing movie with regards to my character," he said of his role as Lon Hammond in the movie based on Nicholas Sparks' bestselling novel.

Marsden, whose character was not a bad person, ultimately lost the girl in the end but fans are not that easy to please.

"I hear people say that [they would've stayed with me]," he told Vulture. "Then I also have people coming up and going like, 'Ugh!' Theyíre just disgusted by me. Like, 'How dare you get involved with their love? You are the a--hole in that movie.' Iím like, 'How is he an a--hole?' He was a great guy."

Marsden was all praise for his co-stars McAdams and Gosling and their onscreen chemistry. He rationally noted: "Anything thatís going to get in their way is bad or evil, right? Itís just funny how people carry it with them, like in real life when they say, 'Oh, youíre the jerk in The Notebook!'"
