Jay-Z's Lawyer Suing Him For Failing To Pay His Fees

July 7, 2009

Jay-Z's own lawyer is suing him. The multi-millionaire music mogul has been accused of not paying Attorney Michael DiMattia his fees.

DiMattia, who represented the hip-hop star during his legal battle with the employees of his 40/40 Club, claims that Jay-Z has been ignoring his requests for payment of his services.

He has been working for him since July 2008.

According to the New York Post, the legal beagle wrote a letter to Manhattan Federal Court Judge Loretta Preska, who is presiding the 40/40 club employees' case, to allow him to withdraw after Jay-Z refused to pay the lawyer's fees..

Last year, Judge Preska ruled that Jay-Z and the other club owners violated labor laws after almost 400 employees complained that they were not paid for overtime work and were paid less than the minimum wage.

Jay-Z reputedly earned $82 million in a course of just one year.
