Just Jack's Music Inspired By "Rubbish Late-Night Films"

April 6, 2009

Just Jack's music is inspired by "rubbish late-night films." The "Embers" singer - who shot to fame with his hit single "Starz in Their Eyez" - admits most of his song ideas come from movies.

He said: "I'll happily watch a rubbish late-night film full of perma-tanned weirdos on channel Five and still get something out of it."

But he insists the ideas behind his latest single "Embers" stem from more meaningful movies.

He explained: "The lines for 'Embers' came to me when I'd been watching a lot of war films. I like Almodovar, his films have emotional endings that are rarely tied up. And I love Mike Leigh. My girlfriend bought me 'Abigail's Party' for Christmas and it's fantastic."

The 32-year-old singer - real name Jack Allsopp - also admitted he is glad he didn't find fame when he was younger.

He said: "I'm glad I broke through when I'm a bit older. I watch 18-year-olds with number ones going mental, and I would've been the same. But I feel I can deal with some of the b******* now. Ironic that I explained my reaction to fame in the song that made me famous!"

Just Jack's latest album "All Night Cinema" is released in the U.K. on June 8.
