Britney Spears is "Burning Up" in new Madonna cover

Los Angeles, CA, United States (Celebrity News Service) - Although Britney Spears' catalog is filled with hot songs, she delved into another pop queen's discography for her fiery latest: a cover of Madonna's 1983 dance hit "Burning Up."

Spears' version of the track, which was originally off Madonna's self-titled debut, leaked online on Thursday, which features her acapella placed over 80's-inspired dance beats from up-and-coming remixer Nick*.

Spears is rumored to be performing the single, in addition to hits like "Till the World Ends," "Hold It Against Me," and "I'm a Slave 4 U," on her "Femme Fatale" tour. The tour kicks off June 16th in Sacramento.

The cover might come less of a surprise as Jamie King, the tour director for Britney's latest trek, also helmed Madonna's last four world tours.

Britney Spears has always been vocal about her idolization of Madonna and has taken on her songs since the start of her career. She performed "Material Girl" at her very first tour and, lest we forget, joined the pop queen herself for "Like a Virgin" and "Hollywood" before their famous kiss at the MTV awards.
