Los Angeles, CA, United States (Celebrity News Service) - Singer Gavin DeGraw was attacked by a group of men in New York City early Monday morning and is currently recovering at a New York hospital.

According to reports, the 34-year-old singer was said to have been walking around the East Village, just blocks away from a bar he part-owns with his brother, when an unknown group of males attacked the star at around 4:30am on Monday.

According to New York Daily News, DeGraw stumbled off after the attack and was hit by a cab but not seriously injured. He is in stable condition at Bellevue Hospital, having suffered a broken nose and cuts on his face.

"Gavin DeGraw was assaulted ... and was taken to the emergency room at Bellevue Hospital by ambulance. He is currently under observation. We have no additional information at this time," DeGraw's reps said in a statement.

An ambulance was said to have arrived after 911 calls reported that a man was found bloody. The attack wasn't reported until police arrived to the hospital.

DeGraw, whose hits include "I Don't Want to Be" and "Chariot," is currently on tour with Maroon 5 and Train. His new single "Not Over You" is climbing up radio and his new album is due next month.
