Oasis Should Have Split 13 Years Ago, Claims Their Guitarist

June 3, 2009

Oasis should have split up 13 years ago, claims their former guitarist. Founder member Paul "Bonehead" Arthurs quit the group in 1999 and believes the "Live Forever" stars should have called it a day after their two legendary Knebworth shows in 1996.

He said: "I always thought we should have bowed out after the second night at Knebworth. Walking out on that stage gave us a feeling I can't explain, a sea of people. It was big!"

Despite watching the band enjoy further success after his departure, Bonehead insists he has no regrets about leaving - but would rejoin them for a one-off performance.

He said: "I'd never rejoin them - not that I'd be asked. But for one show? Absolutely. I still know the chords to 'Rock 'n' Roll Star.'"

Although Bonehead thinks Oasis reached their peak in the 90s, singer Liam Gallagher has promised fans their upcoming summer U.K. shows will be bigger than Knebworth.

He said: "I'm totally buzzing about these concerts. In total seriousness, I reckon they have the potential to be even better than the Knebworth shows. It's been a top year for the band, and we're approaching these shows at the top of our game. My mind is totally on it."

"We're a miles better band than we were at Knebworth and we'll show it. People will have their heads blown off."
