Pixie Lott's Parents Thought She Was Mute When She Was Younger

September 10, 2009

Pixie Lott's parents thought she was mute when she was younger. The "Mama Do (Uh Oh Uh Oh)" singer was so introverted before she went to school her family worried she may never speak.

Her mother told Britain's The Sun newspaper: "We were really worried about her when she was little."

"We thought something was wrong but it turned out she was just painfully shy."

"She didn't really start talking until she went to school. I thank her stage school Italia Conti for drawing her out of herself."

Blonde teenager Pixie may have learned to deal with her nerves, but she has also had to grasp other skills since becoming famous - including dealing with unwanted admirers.

The 19-year-old beauty recently had to politely decline "The Wrestler" actor Mickey Rourke's advances.

Pixie said: "He was lovely but he's old enough to be my dad. I don't have a boyfriend but there are a couple of options."

"I really don't have time for a man, though. I'm too busy. If I did meet someone, it would be easier if they weren't famous."

Pixie is tipped to reach number one in the U.K. with her second single "Boys and Girls" this Sunday.
