Prince William Fooled People Into Believing He Was Just A Look-Alike

August 20, 2009

Britain's Prince William fooled people into believing he was a royal look-alike. The 27-year-old prince was desperate not to attract attention and enjoy a quiet drink at The Lighthouse bar in Battersea, south west London.

However, William was forced to lie about his royal roots when fellow drinkers began to suspect there was a famous face in the bar after spotting several bodyguards posted around the establishment.

When one reveler approached him and asked if he was the future king of England, William laughed and replied: "No, I get that all the time!"

The royal tried to maintain a low-profile as he enjoyed a pint of beer and plate of fish and chips with friends. He also charmed a group of girls by laughing and joking with them.

A source said: "He was very polite. We were amazed he was in our local pub."

William is not the only member of the British royal family who craves time away from the public spotlight.

It was recently revealed his mother, the late Princess Diana, begged her former bodyguard Ken Wharfe to let her spend time on her own.

Ken revealed: "She used to say to me, 'It must be great fun doing normal things.' I asked her what she wanted to do and she said, 'I'd love to walk on a beach in this country.'"
