Singer Morrissey Had Magazine Editor Kicked Out Of Hotel

May 13, 2008

To prove he still isn't ready to make nice with NME, British singer Morrissey had the music magazine's editor removed from a Los Angeles hotel where they were both staying.

Morrissey, 48, and the publication came to blows last December after the magazine printed an interview with the former Smiths lead suggesting he was a racist. He had hit back with a legal suit claiming the editor had deliberately staged the interview and that his comments were simply taken out of context.

Last week, the singer and editor Conor McNicholas were due to stay in the same hotel. When Morrissey had learned about this, he had called the hotel officials and requested that McNicholas be removed from the premises.

His spokesperson has been quoted by contactmusic.com as saying, "I have a very good relationship with the, and when I explained the situation they agreed it would not be appropriate for Conor to stay."

But NME wants Morrissey to know he didn't have the last laugh.

They hit back by saying, "Thanks to Morrissey's people, Conor got upgraded to a penthouse in a sister hotel."
