Los Angeles, CA, United States (Celebrity News Service) - Brenda is leaving Port Charles once again. Vanessa Marcil Giovinazzo is packing her bags and leaving "General Hospital" after returning to the show for a year.

Marcil Giovinazzo joined the show last year after an eight-year absence, when she left the show and joined the cast of "Las Vegas." The Daytime Emmy Award winner picked up her trophy for playing Brenda in 2003, the year following her departure.

"June 9th! will be my last day on the set!" Vanessa Marcil Giovinazzo tweeted. "Thank you GH for a great year. Best cast and crew in the world and in my heart forever."

The actress first joined the show, playing Brenda Barrett, in 1992. Her departure comes amidst rumors that, like "All My Children" and "One Life to Live," "General Hospital" could also be coming to an end.

Following ABC's addition of Katie Couric to its daytime line-up, reports are that the network is aiming at giving Couric the show's time slot, leaving the fate of the third-longest-running-soap in jeopardy.
