Eric Dane is the latest cast member added to "Burlesque," the musical drama starring Christina Aguilera and Cher. The "Grey's Anatomy" star rounds out an already star-studded cast which also includes Stanley Tucci, Kristen Bell, Alan Cumming, and "Twilight" star Cam Gigandet.

"Burlesque" is the story of a young girl with a big voice, Ali (Aguilera), who joins a Los Angeles neo-burlesque club. Dane plays a businessman who offers to buy the club from it's former dancer owner Tess, played by Cher.

The film is from director/writer Steve Antin, brother of Robin Antin, who developed the originally neo-burlesque troupe the Pussycat Dolls. He also developed the two Dolls-related reality shows, "Girlicious" and "The Search for the Next Doll."

Filming for "Burlesque" already kicked off last week in Los Angeles. It's the first role for Aguilera in a film. The film hits theaters in 2010.

Filmmaker Brett Ratner will be adapting the Bollywood blockbuster "Kites" into a Western film. The "Rush Hour" director is reportedly "editing" an English version of the Asian film.

Ratner, whose credits include "The Family Man," "Red Dragon," and "X-Men: The Last Stand," is said to be working on an international English version of the Bollywood film by Anurag Basu.

The domestic version has already been completed and will be released in January, while the international version is still being formatted.

The move is being welcomed by acclaimed Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, who said this might result in the world coming closer.

A renowned filmmaker will return to the roots that made him famous.

Hong Kong movie-maker John Woo's 2008 film "Red Cliff" will be making its American theatrical debut on November 20, but HDNet will give viewers a chance to watch it before it hits theaters. HDNet Movies will offer a sneak preview of the movie at 8 p.m. ET on November 18. Encore showings will follow at 10:30 p.m. that night and at 1 a.m. on November 19.

The movie is a historical epic following the Han Dynasty and the military exploits surrounding the reign in 208 A.D., toward the end of the era. General Cao Cao (Zhang Fengyi) is eager to destroy warlords he sees as a threat to the empire, but with the help of a legendary war hero (Tony Leung) these rebels will take on Cao Cao's much larger troops. The movie also stars You Yong, Chang Chen and Takeshi Kaneshiro.

"Red Cliff" has received accolades from numerous film critics, including Leonard Maltin, who described it as "breathtaking," and Ian Rafferty of The New York Times, whose assessment was that the film was "a grand-scale war movie."

The "March of the Penguins" Limited Edition gift set is currently available on DVD.

The 2005 documentary by French filmmaker Luc Jacquet comes in a specially contained package from Warner Home Video. Besides the Oscar-winning documentary, the set includes the new, accompanying feature "On the Wings of a Penguin," in addition to a plush penguin and collectible postcards featuring the flightless Antarctic birds.

The film captures the life cycle of a group of emperor penguins as they mate, give birth and start their lives together. With narration by renowned actor Morgan Freeman, "March of the Penguins" keeps audiences on their toes by showing both the light-hearted and dangerous moments in the lives of penguins, as they struggle to keep their eggs warm and brave the predatory waters in the search for food.

The response to the movie led to it grossing more than million in theaters, making it the second most financially successful documentary ever made, also taking home the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature. As a result of the public's love affair with penguins, many more movies came out featuring the birds, ranging from the animated "Happy Feet," "Surf's Up" and the "Madagascar" series to the spoof "Farce of the Penguins."

British songstress Leona Lewis has been tapped to sing the theme song for James Cameron's much-hyped sci-fi film "Avatar." The "X Factor" champ has recorded "I See You" for the closing credit of the movie.

Lewis, 24, worked with producers James Horner and Simon Franglen, who both produced the "Titanic" hit track "My Heart Will Go On."

The new song is expected to hit the same level of popularity the Celine Dion track achieved in 1997.

"Avatar" is being plugged as a breakthrough in filmmaking technology. It tells the story of an alien race defending their land against human invasion. Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Michelle Rodriguez, Giovanni Ribisi, and "Alien" star Sigourney Weaver lead the cast.

American film and television viewers will get the chance to observe life in another part of the world.

The documentary "The Glass House" premiered Monday night at 9 p.m. ET/PT on the Sundance Channel. Directed by Hamid Rahmanian and produced by Melissa Hibbard, the film, which originally debuted at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival, is a look at life in Iran through the eyes of four young women. With different ages and different issues among them, the 18 months of their lives captured on film reveal much about the difficulties faced by women in the Middle Eastern nation.

At 20, Sussan is the oldest of the movie's subjects. Suffering from family sexual abuse and a debilitating head injury, she has married frequently and is working on improving her education in search of a better life. Mitra, 16, must contend with an angry, abusive father who views her as being overweight and lazy, but she channels her frustration into creative writing. Samira, the youngest of them at 14, has suffered just as much, with her divorced mother exposing her to alcohol, crystal meth and other drugs, from which she is still recovering.

Nazila, 19, defies the law by working on a burgeoning career as a rap artist. This is all on top of looking after six younger siblings, taking care of her father and preparing for an eventual job as a social worker through the Omid e Mehr Center, a Tehran-based organization where all the aforementioned women seek to improve their domestic situations.

The Kevin Smith Collection is currently available on Blu-ray Hi-Def.

The Kevin Smith Collection, released today, is a box set containing three of the filmmaker's best-loved movies: "Clerks," "Chasing Amy" and "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back." The collection contains all new features for the films, in addition to the transfer of the content to a high definition digital format.

"Clerks," Smith's first foray into the film world, follows a day in the life of New Jersey convenience store worker Dante (Brian O'Halloran) and his foul-mouthed best friend, Randal (Jeff Anderson), a video rental clerk. The low budget, black and white 1994 feature became a hit at film festivals such as Cannes and Sundance, launching the careers of writer/director Smith and producer Scott Mosier and inspiring a later animated series and a 2006 sequel. Among the special features are an all new introduction by Smith; the notorious "Lost Scene"; and Smith and Mosier's film school short, "Mae Day: The Crumbling of a Documentary."

"Chasing Amy" marked Smith's venture into dramatic territory with a love story between comic book artist Holden (Ben Affleck) and fellow comic personality Alyssa (Joey Lauren Adams). The only problem that faces them: She's a lesbian. The special features for the 1997 movie include "Tracing Amy: The 'Chasing Amy' Doc," the featurette "Was It Something I Said?" and the 10th anniversary question and answer feature with Smith and the cast.

Apocalyptic film "2012" makes 2009 its year at the box office. The Sony Pictures sci-fi film garnered million at the box office during its opening weekend, and marched past 5 million for its first five days in the big screen.

The Roland Emmerich film - starring John Cusack and Amanda Peet - marks Sony's #1 North American film for this year. It grossed .6 million on its opening day Friday in the U.S. and 0 million in international receipts from Wednesday through Sunday.

Jim Carrey's "A Christmas Carol" is still holding fairly well in its second week. It grosses another .3 million at the big screen, down 26 percent from its debut.

Also, Michael Jackson's "This Is It" grossed another .1 million, now boasting 2 million in its haul.

Michael Moore's latest movie, "Capitalism: A Love Story," hasn't been such a love story with moviegoers. While reviews were mostly positive (scoring 75% on Rotten Tomatoes), the movie is Moore's lowest-grossing documentary since 1998's "The Big One."

"Capitalism: A Love Story" has earned only million in seven weeks. By comparison, his biggest hit "Fahrenheit 9/11" grossed 9 million at the U.S. box office. It's also his lowest grossing film since 1998's "The Big One," about corporate America.

Moore's last film, 2007's "Sicko," the timely expose about the state of the U.S. health-care system, grossed over million. But it's not all bad news for "Capitalism: A Love Story." It's still the eighth highest-grossing documentary at the U.S. box office. Moore has four entries in the top 10.

"New Moon" has dominated the advance ticket sales list. Movie ticket seller company Fandango says that the "Twilight" sequel has already toppled previous record-holders to the top-selling pre-release title in its history.

The film, based on Stephenie Meyer's novel of the same name, strikes down "Dark Knight," "Harry Potter" and "Star Wars," becoming the #1 advance ticket-seller in Fandango history.

It is currently chunking down 86 percent of weekly ticket sales on Fandango; thousands of November 20 midnight showing schedules are already sold out across the country.

Lauren Bacall has been given an honorary Oscar. The legendary actress accepted the honor this weekend, four months before the full ceremony takes place.

Upon receiving the award, she quipped: "I can't believe it - a man at last. The thought that when I get home I'm going to have a two-legged man in my room is so exciting."

The 85-year-old screen icon accepted the gong at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' 2009 Governors Awards, held on Saturday, where she also paid tribute to her late husband Humphrey Bogart, describing him as "my great love."

The "Big Sleep" actress also thanked a number of leading men who had starred alongside her, including Kirk Douglas, Gregory Peck and Henry Fonda.

Speaking at the ceremony, Douglas insisted Bacall's image as a tough woman was all show, saying: "She's a pussycat and has a heart of gold."

"Mickey's Magical Christmas: Snowed in at the House of Mouse" is currently available on DVD for the holiday season.

The latest Christmas DVD release from Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment - joining the ranks of "Mickey's Once Upon a Christmas" and the sequel "Twice Upon a Christmas" - returns to the television locale "House of Mouse," the cartoon nightclub owned by Disney favorite Mickey Mouse.

The wide range of Disney characters are all geared up for the holiday festivities until they find themselves stuck in the building by an enormous blizzard. Though characteristically grouchy Donald Duck threatens to bring down the mood, Mickey and the rest of gang make the most of each other's company with home movies and good cheer, realizing that the most important part of Christmas is being with friends and family.

Originally airing in 2001 as a "House of Mouse" holiday special, the movie features a number of classic Disney Christmas cartoons, such as "The Nutcracker," "Mickey's Christmas Carol," "Donald on Ice" and "Pluto and the Christmas Tree." More than 35 Disney characters appear in the special: long-time characters Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck and Goofy; Disney princesses Snow White, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Ariel and Belle; Hundred Acre Wood residents Winnie the Pooh, Tigger and Piglet; Dumbo; Bambi; Timon and Pumba of "The Lion King"; and many more.

Tom Cruise wants Katie Holmes to play a villain in the next "Mission: Impossible" movie. The actor - who stars as spy Ethan Hunt in the action franchise - is desperate to work with his wife and believes an evil part for her in the fourth film would be perfect because he doesn't want them to play a couple on screen.

A source said: "Tom is very excited about taking 'Mission: Impossible' in a new direction and he sees Katie as a big part of that."

"They have wanted to work together for a while now but the idea of being a couple on screen in a romantic comedy is a bit dull. This might give them a chance to have some fun both as a couple and as hero and villainess."

Katie - who has a three-year-old daughter, Suri, with Tom - recently admitted she loves bringing her home life into her acting roles.

She said: "In my own life, my whole world really revolves around my family. I do what I need to do, but it's like, 'How is everybody else doing?' And it's wonderful for me as an actress to put some of that into a character."

After two weeks in release, "Michael Jackson's This Is It" is easily the highest-grossing concert film of all time. In an announcement from Sony Pictures Entertainment, "This Is It" has reached over 0 million at the global box-office.

The film has already grossed over million in the U.S., where it's on track to beat the final tally of the "Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert Tour," also becoming the highest-grossing concert film stateside. It's also grossed over million in Japan, over million in the U.K. and over million in territories such as France and Germany.

The Disney-Pixar movie "Up" is currently available on DVD and Blu-ray Hi-Def.

The film, the tenth from animation innovators Pixar and the first to be shown theatrically in 3-D, comes out today in 2-disc DVD and 4-disc Blu-ray Combo Pack editions, both of which include the DisneyFile extra format, allowing for digital download on most electronic devices.

The movie focuses on a widowed 78-year-old man who decides to make a change in his life by attaching thousands of helium-filled balloons to his house. As he soars into the clouds and into a life of newfound excitement, he learns a young Wilderness Explorer has mistakenly tagged along with the house. Meeting a long-lost adventurer, a group of talking dogs and a behemoth flightless tropical bird, the two share a lifetime's worth of escapades, as well as a few life lessons that bridge the 70-year age difference between them.

Among the skilled voice cast are Ed Asner, Jordan Nagai, Christopher Plummer, Delroy Lindo and Pixar mainstays Bob Peterson - a writer for the studio - and John Ratzenberger, who has lent his voice to every Pixar feature.

The Disney-Pixar movie "Monsters, Inc." is currently available on Blu-ray Hi-Def for the first time.

The 2001 animated feature was released on a special 4-disc Blu-ray edition on Nov. 10. The latest release of the fourth full-length film from animation studio Pixar includes all new features compiled with its digitally re-mastered presentation of the friendliest monsters you've ever seen.

John Goodman and Billy Crystal voice Sulley and Mike, the top scaring team in the city of Monstropolis, which runs on a special energy source: the screams of terrified children. It's all in a day's work for the two, but when a closet door is accidentally left open, a child (Mary Gibbs) walks into their world causing all sorts of panic that only they can fix.

Also filling out the voice cast are Steve Buscemi, James Coburn, Jennifer Tilly, John Ratzenberger, Bonnie Hunt, Frank Oz and Bob Peterson.

Disney-Pixar's "Cars" is now available in a fully loaded special edition Blu-ray Hi-Def.

The 2006 film was released on November 10 in a whole new format with the "Cars" Blu-ray Combo Pack Gift Set. The set includes a Blu-ray copy of the movie with special bonus features, in addition to limited edition die-cast toy cars.

In a world filled with the titular automobiles, the story follows the experiences hot shot race car Lightning McQueen (voice of Owen Wilson), who is his own biggest fan in his bid to become the greatest racing champion of all time. But en route to the deciduous race, Lightning gets lost, and winds up stuck in the tiny town of Radiator Springs, where life is slow and worst of all, no one has ever heard of his prowess on the race track. But small town life may just be what he needs to get perspective on his career.

With a voice cast that includes Larry the Cable Guy, Bonnie Hunt, Michael Keaton Richard Petty, Cheech Marin, George Carlin, Tony Shalhoub and Paul Newman in one of his final film performances, the world of cars comes to life. A soundtrack including the music of Sheryl Crow, James Taylor, John Mayer and Rascal Flatts' show-stopping "Life Is a Highway" doesn't hurt either.

Filmmaker Martin Scorsese is set to receive an honor at the upcoming Golden Globe Awards with the Cecil B. DeMille Award for his "outstanding contribution to the entertainment field."

The lifetime achievement award, named after the legendary film producer and director, was voted by the Board of Directors of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.

Recent recipients include Steven Spielberg (2009), Warren Beatty (2007), Sir Anthony Hopkins (2006), and Robin Williams (2005).

Scorsese is a two-time Golden Globe Award recipient for directing "The Departed" and "Gangs of New York." He received five more nominations, four as Best Director for "Casino," "Age of Innocence," "Goodfellas," and "Raging Bull," and one for Best Screenplay for "Goodfellas" along with Nicolas Pileggi.

"New Moon" has outsold its predecessor "Twilight" in advance ticket sales. According to movie ticketing company Fandango, the vampire romance sequel currently dominates the site's ticket sales by 75 percent.

The film, based on the novel of the same name by Stephenie Meyer, is set to hit theaters next week, November 20. Thousands of Thursday night's midnight showtimes are already sold-out across the country, but tickets are still available in some areas, while new slots are added regularly to keep up with the fans' demands.

Fandango COO Rick Butler said, "Ever since we started selling advance tickets to New Moon on August 31, the demand has been unstoppable, as the fan base just keeps growing every day."

"New Moon is tracking to be Fandango's #1 top advance ticket-seller of all time."

A whopping 20 films have been submitted for consideration in the Animated Feature Film category for the 82nd Academy Awards. The features will be cut to five for the final shortlist.

Under the Academy's rules for the category, a maximum of 5 films can be nominated in a year if the eligible entries reach at least 16.

However, not all of the 20 hopefuls have completed their Los Angeles qualifying run yet. "Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squekquel," "The Dolphin - Story of a Dreamer," "Fantastic Mr. Fox," "Planet 51," "The Princess and the Frog," "The Secret of Kells," and "A Town Called Panic" must still fulfill the theatrical release requirements and meet all of the category's qualifying rules before they can be assured of their position in the list.

The films hoping for the Animated Feature Film category may also qualify for the other categories if they meet the requirements.
